Thank heaven for little Goldies

I thought I would make an entry for Goldie to read one day.
A little trip through the months before she came. A place where she can come and she
just how much she was wanted and how she is perfectly adored.

For the past, oh I dont know--15 years-- your mama and I have taken part in something you will one day take part in. A little something I like to call "so what baby names do you like?" We would stay up late and talk about our futures. Little did we know our little angel baby was only 15 years away!
I would always say I wanted to called my daughter Evelyn, I hope I do get to have an Evelyn some day, and I hope you are best friends just like your mom and me.

Here's your Mama and Aunty Lorly

You are part of a charming, true hearted family now baby.
We make a simple day into one that is equal parts funny and fun.
I give my beautiful mother Joanie, your Noanie, credit for this.
She grew up without a mother and made it her life's mission to be the mother she never had. One of the most inspiring and puzzling people I have ever known; how can someone be so patient and kind I will never know. You are going to think more fondly of her than you could ever imagine, Goldie.
Here is your Noanie, our mom, with her big sister Nane.

This is your crazy mamas side of the family! Look at your handsome Pop!

I will forever remember the day your mom and dad told us they were going to try for a baby.
Noanie and I put matching holes in the roof of our home that night ;)

Although we were prepared to wait as long as it took, we were all anxious to hear that you were in there and getting ready to start developing, one Sunday morning all of our wishes came true!

The text that said you were IN THERE!! I was so happy.

We couldn't control our excitement, even though you were just barely there, you were there.

Your mom had a little trouble at about 7 weeks, I made this playlist to cheer up.

We all were elated when your little heart beat showed up at your first doctors appointment.
Words really cannot describe how thankful we were that God had his hand on you already.

Spring came! Your Noanie & Pop's house is so pretty in Springtime.

You will always remind me of spring, little chick. Your moms pregnancy brought the first blossoms.

We were all anxious for your announcement from fancytreehouse, we were on vacation when your mama added this amazing picture. Noanie had the best time getting texts from her friends with "congrats!"

Your mom and dad are so beautiful and in love Goldie, you are so blessed.

Aunty Lorly started watching "Friday Night Lights" when you were 12 weeks developed, I had to ask your mom panicked questions about Tim Riggins and Jason Street at midnight some nights.

This is a picture of your downtown Nashville. It's so pretty here at sunset.

So the time came for the first sonograms and I was so nervous! I had only held one baby, one time so you can't imagine how anxious I was seeing you inside your mom, my sister. She was so lovely and gracious and let Noanie and I come in and see you. We all cried, we all couldn't believe YOU!

We started looking more and more at baby pictures, wondering who you would look like.

This is me at 2 I think, we have the same shaped eyes!

Noanie and I on the way to pick up your mama (and you in her tummy) to go shopping in the summer, we love shopping and can't wait for our girls trips. You will be getting lots of socks little one!

In August I started school again. It's a beautiful place, and I hope one day you can come to my graduation ;) I was so worried I would be at school when you were born. It was a nightmare!

Fall came and along with it, your moms Birthday and pumpkin spice lattes! We love them.
I'm sure you inadvertently tasted a few.

First PSL 2012. Delicious.

Around this time I re-fell in love with Nuno Bettencourt.
Just thought you might like to know. Might be your Uncle Nuno some day! HA

For your moms birthday we got to see you, in 4d! Uncle Seth came too, what a treat.

Hi Baby! We couldn't believe how much you favored your mama here.

Goldie, I know you already know this. And it's very easy to tell. But your mother is the most beautiful, smart, encouraging, genuine and just downright FUN person I have ever known. She is the most attentive, elegant and patient mama to you. Watching her take care of you is one of the truest views of love I have ever experienced, now I know how much my mom loves me.

We had the honor of giving you and your mom a baby shower. It was very stressful, and VERY fun. We have so many fun memories and I hope that you can see one day how many lovely friends and family came to shower you!

Making decorations for the shower.

Your Wooty even helped! Not.

Your mom gave me these beautiful collar clips as a shower present. They are very special to me.

We just  couldn't believe you were coming so soon!

Birdie loved laying on you, even if it wasn't as comfy as before. She's a darling baby and will be your best friend some day. I love her, and I found her on recycler in 2010 (lololol)

So now it was October and we were so very anxious for your arrival! We would all just sit blankly and then offer something about the birth to the conversation. It was a very surreal and fun time for all of us.

We all guessed when you would arrive, guess who was closest. ME!

One of my favorite texts to your mom a couple weeks before you were born. You wont believe how much you're going to love Father of the Bride, you watched it with us many times already!

Hospital time! November 2nd, long night, longer morning. Best night and day ever.

Noanie, Lorly, Pop and your mom and dad were all talking and laughing all through the night. Your mom had to have some medicine to help with the pain and it made her legs numb. I stayed up talking to her and we had some really special times. I couldn't believe my tiny sister was about to do the most brave and trying act a person can do. She did so great, Goldie. Took such good care of you from day 1.

The doctor who delivered you kept saying "Brilliant!" and I snickered. We still say this to each other.

And there you were. Perfect and angelic and in the arms of your hero.
Your dad is so in love with you, you are the light of our lives.

Our first picture together. I was in dreamland. Love at first sight.

I want you to know how much you have already changed my life baby.
What I once saw as a lost cause I now see as a wealth of opportunity.
You have the world at your feet, and I reapplied that I too have this life to live.
I wouldn't want you to miss out on a single part of life, just as i'm sure my mom wished for me.

You are such a tiny inspiration.
You make me want to be a better comedian ;) A better sister, a better daughter, a better everything.
I love you so much, I cannot wait to spend the rest of this life with you little Goldie Frances.

Love forever and always,
Your Lorly.

Happenstance

Hello to you, you there who is reading this!
I will imagine you are at your kitchen table at 9am on a sunny day with some windows open.
Hopefully you have some yummy coffee just the way you like it and perhaps a little breakfast.
BUT, if you're like me, you're probably on your bed or sitting in your room and very comfortable :)

There have been many occurrences since my last post in which I said "I should blog that!"
Quickly followed by "but that's life stuff, not beauty stuff. Dummy." I want to stop stopping myself!
So, in the style of my sister who has just some-what announced her style blog turing lifestyle blog, I will align and concur!

I wanted to start off with a post showering my 3 month old niece Goldie with undying praise,
but that is too predictable :) So I will ease into this coming of age space by telling you a little life story.

I currently live with my family. I'm not ashamed of this any more, as most cultures live with their parents until they die! 'Tis true ladies and gentlemen. It's taken a while to be okay with it, but for now i'm living with people I love and it's lovely. That being said I do spend most nights in my comfy warm beautiful home watching movies and the like with my main people. The other night I was casually adding my cutting review to a celebrity something or other and used the word happenstance. As usually, my anxious completely over-working mind went a mile a minute connecting lines and wondering why I knew and used this word.

I choose what some might consider "infrequently used words" quite often without delay and was searching my mind to recall when and how I had come about adding this word to my vocabulary. I couldn't remember. Then things got real: why would I be living in an environment where I knew and loved words as much as I do? Why was this (what I consider to be a) blessing bestowed upon me? But the answer to this question is simple. It was just meant to be. Happenstance.

I love my life, and I will often be heard saying "I love the things I like."
I hope you take a moment to be thankful that you were born to love the things you like!

Ps: next stop GOLDIE EXPRESS!

Tarte but so sweet!

Today's All-Star is a favorite tool in my makeup bag, blush! There are so many options out there that its impossible to try them all. But after using all mediums: powder, stick, liquid, cream.. Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour option is my favorite!

I have both Blissful which is a warm cozy peach, perfect for my favorite subtle 90's look with a dark lip and earth tone eyes

And Amused which is a super pigmented dark pink. My sister (Fancy Treehouse), my mom and I have this color and we all frequently wear it out together. Three different age brackets, skin tones and hair colors and I think it looks great on all of us! That's the kicker :)

My set also came with this amazing brush (i'm not sure if it's sold anywhere yet). It's the best blush brush i've ever owned.

The best part though? It's formulated without paraben, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, synthetic fragrance and all Tarte cosmetics are CRUELTY FREE!! Can you tell I love Tarte? haha

What is your favorite staple when it comes to makeup?
Blush? Lipstick? Eyeshadow?
Anything you'd like to see reviewed? Let me know!

Baby Lips, baby Lips.. Its a wonder you can kiss!

Today was a fun UPS day. I get some sort of inexpensive doodad in the mail every day, (It is a guilty pleasure and I don't care who knows it!) but today was especially good. I received a Maybelline Baby Lips in "Grape Vine". For 3.99 this little baby is quite the quencher. It's juvenile grape scent is incredible nostalgic. Totally reminded me of when I'd sneak my older sisters lip smackers. Dr pepper and lemonade anyone? But Baby Lips is a long way from the waxy hassle most chap sticks can be. I love this for a relaxed day at home and any time you don't want to "waste" your expensive lip products! I'm very impressed and will most likely be trying the other Baby Lips options.

I apologize for the heinous photos of myself. I'm getting the flu :( wanted to keep up with my blog goal though and share this cheap treasure with you!

I am in no way associated with any of the companies or products I recommend, simply a seeker of beauty in all things!

Best kisses,
LaurenVon

Best Mascara In the West... East too!

So I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who goes through mascara like no body's business. It's either too sticky or too dry, not dark enough or just plain blah! But that all changed when I started using Buxom Lash. Aye yi yi! This is the most luxe mascara I've ever used. Dark, rich and glossy it goes on with ease and won't come off till you want it off! (I won't stand for the raccoon look after blinking once!) it's a bit pricey at $19 but when compared to a $7.59 "lash blast" it's quality and quantity. If you're like me you want to see pictures, so here they are. Close up of the brush as well. Happy lashes!
Try Buxom at Sephora!
